Nightmaleon Contest Entry Cruorophobia by Kauriana Nightmaleon Contest Entry Cruorophobia by Kauriana
EDIT: I won her! To see the other winners, just check out this journal: [link]
------
This is an incredibly last-minute (and super rushed) entry for =Taluns' Nightmaleon adoption contest ([link]).
Nightmaleons are an original draconic subspecies created by Taluns that use their color-changing abilities to scare the living daylights out of people by preying on their fears. Which is awesome.

I love all the designs, but I'm trying out for #1 partly because those head-spikes are sassy as heck.
I just hope I'm not too late. It's still the 30th here where I live! ;-;

Without further ado:

Name: Polaris
Gender: Female
Species: Nightmaleon
Age: 11
Type: A
Signature pattern: Cruorophobia, fear of gore/bloodshed.
Info: Very clever, easily bored and easily amused. Polaris lives in captivity in the city, and her owner hires her out to guard construction sites by day. In theory, she's supposed to guard them at night as well, but the chance to explore is too tempting for someone who figured out her cage lock years ago. Since she travels a lot from site to site, Polaris takes every opportunity she gets to slip out and terrorize the newest batch of locals from the alleys with her vocalizations and color-changing abilities.
She has scarcely ever seen another of her kind, although she'd love to. Realistically, she'd probably only be happy for a few minutes before turning it into some kind of dominance competition.
Common noises she makes are gurgly hisses, as well as a noise best described as very loud, very shrill, and very obnoxious laughter whenever she's happy.
In the past year or so, she's started to show a certain degree of disobedience and a sense of ambition that would be alarming to anyone who bothered to notice it.

Best of luck to everyone in the contest—there are a lot of great entries!

Urgh, wish I'd scraped up the time to draw her alternate palette. Alas!

(Also, apologies to everyone waiting on requests. I'm almost done with at least one, but I've learned not to make any promises about when I'll get the time to finish. I made a bit of an exception to this piece because it has a deadline.)

Thank youuu! :love: The feet and legs were unexpectedly really fun, especially since the references kind of left the number of toes up to the imagination.

Your entry is beautiful, too! Congratulations on winning her!

Ooh, I love this! The simple pose actually works really well, we can easily see all the details of the character, plus your style/lineart is really funky and attractive! :D Cool backstory too :3

Best of luck, and thanks a lot for entering! :D

Thank you so much! ;u; I'd been planning a more dynamic pose, but those take a while and I actually was worried about losing some of the details in it, so I just thought, "STANDING! Standing works too!" and scribbled away. (Also whoops, just realized that I uploaded the flipped version. It was originally facing right, not that it matters much.)

Yup, makes sense :D Especially if it's your first time drawing a new species, might be a bit hard to get the right details and stuff ;o;

(haha, don't worry about it! XD)
